One could call it a hat tip - a salute from one photographer, Marc Steculorum,  to a colleague and friend, Guido Guidi. The two men knew each other since the early nineties when Guido’s work was exhibited in Marc’s Antwerp based gallery. In those years Guidi was first and foremost a photographer’s photographer, already held in high esteem by people such as  Lewis Baltz and Stephen Shore. To Steculorum Guidi came across as a photographer with a unique vision, he made photographs that didn’t aim to please, yet they were,  in their own particular way, very seductive.

In December 2021,  thirty years after his first visit, Marc set out to return to Ronta di Cesena. The idea was to take photos in Guido’s village, the street, the house, the garden, the studio. In short: he was going to make a sort of photographic exploration of Guido’s world, not by trying to emulate him, but rather as an exercise, an experiment,  with the end result uncertain. 

At best, the resulting pictures would show aspects of photography that for both men are important.
