Henze Boekhout
Take Off
Matanna Editions # 2
€ 50.00
From the end of 2017 to the autumn of 2022 Henze Boekhout regularly drove to the Polderbaan near Vijfhuizen, close to Schiphol Airport, to photograph planes taking off. The result is “Take Off”, a series of photographs about airplanes and the (window seat) passengers. These images focus on that unstoppable moment when airplanes tear themselves free from the runway and that over-powering other force, gravity. We all know this sensation, it always feels as a kind of liberation, mixed with an element of fear: there is no escape and one can only submit to surrender.
Henze Boekhout died suddenly in the midst of working on his Matanna Edition. He was personally involved in the making of the book and print himself, but unfortunately will never see the printed final product himself. We remember a valued and adventurous photographer and a good friend.
